Cookie statement

1. Cookies

Cookies are small data or text files placed on your local computer by websites and applications. Such cookies can have different purposes: there are technical cookies (e.g. for keeping track of language settings), session cookies (temporary cookies that expire after one session) and tracking cookies (cookies that follow and track your behaviour on the Internet in order to offer you a more optimal user experience).

The Belgian Electronic Communications Act of 13 June 2005 contains some provisions on cookies and their use on websites. The law is a transposition of the European e-Privacy Directive, which means that cookie legislation may be implemented differently in other European member states.

Volta is based in Belgium and therefore follows Belgian legislation on cookies.

2. Purpose and usefulness of cookies

Volta wishes to inform each website visitor as well as possible about his rights under Belgian legislation on cookies, and about which cookies Volta uses. By using the website, the visitor agrees to the use of cookies. Cookies help volta to optimise your visit to the website, to remember technical choices (e.g. choice of language, newsletter, et cetera) and to show you more relevant services and offers.

If you want to consult the volta website, it is recommended that the technical settings for cookies have been enabled. Without enabled cookies, volta cannot guarantee a trouble-free visit to the website. If you prefer not to have cookies, as a visitor you are free to disable them.

We use cookies to improve your visit to our platform/website. The cookies we use are secure. The information we collect using cookies helps us to identify any errors or to show you specific services that we think may be of interest to you.

3. Types of cookies usded by volta

We distinguish the following types of cookies, according to their purposes:

  • Essential/ Strictly necessary cookies:

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be disabled in our systems. They are usually set only in response to actions taken by you, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. They are necessary for proper communication and they facilitate navigation (e.g. returning to a previous page, etc.).

  • Non-essential cookies:

These cookies are not in themselves necessary for the website to function, but they help us offer an improved and personalised website.

  • Functional cookies:

These cookies enable the website to provide improved functionality and personalisation. They can be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages.

  • Analytical cookies:

These cookies allow us to track visits and traffic so that we can measure and improve the performance of our platform/website. They help us know which pages are most and least popular and how visitors move through the website.

  • Targeting / advertising cookies:

These cookies can be set by our advertising partners through our platform/our website.
They may be used by those companies to compile a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on other sites.

Leadinfo:

We use the lead generation service of Leadinfo B.V., Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which recognises company visits to our website based on IP addresses and shows us related publicly available information, such as company names or addresses. In addition, Leadinfo sets two first-party cookies to provide transparency about how our visitors use our website and processes domains of provided form entries (e.g. ‘leadinfo.com’) to correlate IP addresses with companies and to improve its services. For more information, visit www.leadinfo.com. On this page: www.leadinfo.com/en/opt-out you have an opt-out option. In the event of an opt-out, your data will no longer be used by Leadinfo.

Questions about GDPR or cookies?

According to GDPR, the updated privacy law, you cannot just collect data from website visitors. You need their explicit consent. Simple “Allow cookies” banners, commonly used, are therefore no longer sufficient.
