The man-machine brand identity

Vlaamse AI Academie or VAIA trains professionals and researchers in Flanders on artificial intelligence (AI). A complete branding and connecting corporate identity was much needed for this new organisation. Volta dived into the many bits and bytes at the speed of light and immediately filled in the entire brand story, including animation video, aight!

Flowing and connecting, like an unbreakable link between man and machine: that's how VAIA presents itself. Which explains this fluid, interlocking visual style.

Brand identity workshop

Starting from a blank sheet, we sat down with the entire VAIA team for a brand identity workshop. Here, we came up with the new mission and vision of this organisation, forming the basis for the future corporate identity. It soon became clear that the corporate identity needed to be permeated by the human, connecting and technological character of the organisation.

 

Passionate and lively

The fluid and seamless corporate identity establishes the link between man and machine as an aesthetic binder. In this fresh and vibrant style, the curved logo immediately stands out: a continuous flow that seeks the boundary between logo and word image. We also visually reinforce the smooth and intuitive interaction created between man and machine. For instance, we let the striking primary colours red and orange flow into each other via a gradient. We chose these passionate colours for a reason: this corporate identity had to offer sufficient counterweight to the typical green-blue colour scheme that often sticks to technology companies.

 

Harmonious aesthetics

Our philosophy behind this corporate identity? The logo bridges the abstract world of machines to human aesthetics. As such, it reinforces the understanding, acceptance and use of AI. Technology and humans are therefore merging harmoniously into one: a common language that can be understood by both. And no: this philosophy was not written by Chat GPT, we promise!

Animation infused with AI

VAIA was looking to use an animation video to promote their numerous AI courses. Consistent with the nature of the courses, we decided to use AI as a tool for the design. By experimenting with various styles and prompts in Midjourney, we found the perfect look that fits seamlessly with VAIA's corporate identity.
